OPEC policies: To stabilize the oil market, OPEC has decided to cut down production of oil, with effect from January 1, 2017 and this is expected to help the price move upward slightly in 2018. World crisis in the oil producing countries not only increase the price of the oil, but such events can also result in loss of output, disruption of supply, and inefficient market. It has also been highlighted that, the oil futures contracts on the goods market determine the prices of crude oil, which implies that commodity traders have the power of controlling the oil prices. Since 1974, this trend is still continuing. The regulatory authorities, such as the OPEC, can only affect the bidding decision of the traders but they cannot set the price in the market (Kilian and Murphy 2014). OPEC controls the supply to keep the prices at $70 a barrel, but during the time of excess supply and declining price in 2015, it let the price fall because it would not lose money till the price is $20 a barrel (Ogfj.com 2017). During 2011 and 2014, the shale oil production of the USA had doubled, which contributed the fall in oil prices in 2015 and onwards. Trend of price fluctuations It has been a significant rise in the crude oil prices since 1998. In that year, the average price for a barrel was only $12.28, while in 2012 it was $109, almost a 10 fold increase. Although the price dropped since then, but it never went down at the level it was near the 2000s. The major reason identified for this huge jump in the prices of crude oil is that, the resources of easy-to-get oil are exhausted and only the hard-to-get oil resources are left, such as, the continental shale in the North Sea region (Cobb 2012). New technologies and more capital investment are required to carry out the exploration and production activities in those regions. At the same time, the rate of production is important, irrespective of the size of the oil reserve. In the two decades, from 1998 to 2018, the demand for oil has increased more rapidly after 2000s, leading to sharp price volatility, and its role in transportation is still critical. The rate of consumption increased exponentially until 20 05 when the advancement of technology has brought revolution in every aspects of life and in the industries (Bodenstein, Guerrieri and Kilian 2012). While the oil price came down in 2009, it came to a peak in 2012 with $109.45 per barrel, which suddenly came down to $40.68 in 2016. It has been increasing again since then. Hence, it can be seen that prices of oil were more or less stable during the period of 1998 to 2004 and it experienced sharp fluctuations afterwards. The OPEC has changed its strategy for defending the market share than the price by producing more oil at lower prices. The oil prices surged very high since 1998 due to an unexpected international economic boom, especially, from the emerging economies like China and India, and the oil producing countries failed to meet the sudden rise in the demand. In 2007, the traders increased inventories in anticipation of further rising demand and this made the oil prices to shoot up in 2008 (Kilian and Murphy 2014). The fall in oil prices occurred due to increase in supply from the new oil fields. Some roles are compatible and can be more easily fulfilled by the same person; some are less compatible and are likely to be done well by people with different behavioural clusters. This means that a team need not be as many as nine people, but perhaps should be at least three or four including the main team members who are the leader, plant, implementer and the co-ordinator . While comparisons can be drawn between Belbins behavioural team roles and personality types, the roles represent tasks and functions in the self-management of the teams activities. Another consideration they have to take is will the new team member be able to give the team something which they dont already have. Theory Y Theory Y assumes that employees basically like to work and view work as something rather natural; the worker views this as a potentially enjoyable and positive experience. It brings forward that there are ways to make individuals perform other than through control and punishment. If the employee is committed to the mission of the department he or she will become a self directed employee. Job satisfaction means commitment to the department and its objectives. This is due to the fact that the employees of Arsenal Football Club are motivated to achieve whats best for them and the organisation yet they might be dissatisfied due to the pay that they are receiving or their status within the club or maybe even the way the organisation is run. Staff turnover High turnover often means that employees are unhappy with the work or compensation, but it can also indicate unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or that too few employees give satisfactory performance, due to unrealistic expectations or poor candidate screening. Low turnover indicates that none of the above is true: employees are satisfied, healthy and safe, and their performance is satisfactory to the employer. Leadership Having the correct leader for any team is very important because this causes serious changes to the team. Having a disorganised leader for any team will cause the members of the team to lose respect for the leader and each other in the team. Whereas having someone who is punctual, organised, good communicator and who has an interest in the team will be beneficial to the team as this will motivate the team members to respect one another, work harder, and become more efficient as well as having a good organisational structure within the team. Training/Coaching/Mentoring The players of Arsenal Football Club are constantly trained, several times a week, to prepare them for the football games against other football teams. Within the training sessions they discuss tactics which are done accordingly to players skill levels. This helps them become more confident and their skills levels improve as well as their teamwork. The reason their teamwork increases is because they learn to play with the same team members every week so they get used to the way they play and they can adjust their playing style to suit that of the team so the efficiency increases. The difference between training, coaching and mentoring is that: * Training is teaching a team member a certain skill so they can use it to their advantage within the team and for the teams benefit, passing the ball for example * Coaching is supporting, explaining, demonstrating, instructing and directing team members through encouragement and asking questions * Mentoring is focusing on a certain aspect of a team members skill and working on that until it improves, speed for example. Tobacco Advertisements Essay -- Marketing, Legal Issues, Smoking

Tobacco advertisements have been a sensitive subject in America especially among parents who do not want their children to become smokers. I know from personal experience that tobacco is extremely toxic and can do major bodily harm. My grandfather was a chain smoker for over twenty years. He started smoking in his late teens and he died from lung problems that were caused by his addiction to cigarette smoking. My father is also a chain smoker and he started smoking when he was sixteen. He is starting to experience the same problems that my grandfather had due to his chain smoking. This history of smokers in my family has struck a cord in me. It has caused me to look further at the history of tobacco advertisements aimed to people under the age of eighteen, past precedent in court that was passed based on these advertisements, and current trends in tobacco advertisements today. The first print tobacco advertisements that used celebrities as the main focus of the advertisements came about during the 1950’s in America. Huge celebrities such as Phillip Morris would endorse cigarette smoking in print advertisements. This type of marketing technique involves many social psychological theories. One theory is the Social Impact Theory. According to three authors the Social Impact Theory is, â€Å" . . . interprets â€Å"social pressure† quite literally: people experience psychological forces pressing on them, just as they experience physical forces such as sound and weight† (Breckler, Olson, and Wiggins 431). One sub-category of this theory is the Liking Technique. According to Steven Breckler, James Olson, and Elizabeth Wiggins the Liking Technique is, â€Å" A strategy to increase compliance, based on the fact that people are more likely ... ... that they must â€Å"spend $500 million a year on anti-tobacco advertising† (397). The problem with this is that some people such as McLaren question if these â€Å"anti-tobacco advertisements† really have an effect on the consumers in specific, consumers under the age of eighteen. (See exhibit B). Language in tobacco advertisements have certainly evolved and adapted itself since the 1950’s. It is under constant watch by the FDA, which was made possible by class action suits that ultimately led to legislation such as the Tobacco Control Act, and the FDA Tobacco Regulation Bill. If people under the age of eighteen become more informed on the facts of language in tobacco advertisements, then they will probably be less likely to smoke a cigarette. So hopefully future generations will be the solution to this controversial subject of language in tobacco advertisements.
